CLOUD OPERATIONS ENGINEER

The Cloud Operations Engineer’s primary responsibility is to help deploy and support customers who subscribe to our Cloud services. They will need to be customer-focused, enthusiastic and have excellent IT technical support skills, with a calm and reassuring manner and strong attention to detail. Working with our Cloud Solutions Architects who design the Cloud solutions, Cloud Delivery Engineers need to have a firm understanding of all the technologies being deployed and the ability to implement the proposed solution working in a project team and overseen by the Service Delivery Manager and Cloud Projects Manager.

The Cloud Operations Engineer will be involved throughout the client engagement process, from initial scoping and surveys, through project implementation and delivery, and if required for ongoing support and maintenance of the customer environment.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Accountable for:

  • Accountable for implementation of customer Cloud-based infrastructure and service provisioning.
  • Accountable for customer success with the Cloud service.
  • Accountable for delivering the customer solution as specified.
  • Accountable for ensuring capture, tracking and regular updates to support requests.
  • Accountable for accurate documentation of the deployed solution.
  • Accountable for Cloud service delivery to agreed standards and Service Level Agreements.

 

Key Decisions:

  • Decides on the best method of implementing a Cloud service based on Customer requirements and agreed solution architecture.
  • Decides on the best method of resolving Customer service challenges or support requirements.
  • Decides on solutions to resolve customer operational issues.

 

Education, Experience & Skills

Formal Qualifications Required:

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate. - Essential
  • Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. Essential
  • Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate. Desirable
  • Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate. Desirable
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner. Desirable
  • Degree in IT or Engineering related field and post-graduate. Desirable
  • Industry certification e.g. Cisco (CCNP, CCDP, and above), Microsoft (Cloud), CECP(MEF) or similar. Preferred

Job Related Experience Required:

2+ years required experience. Essential

  • Supporting Cloud-based infrastructure (SaaS, IaasS, PaaS).
  • Proven experience with Microsoft and/or AWS cloud services.
  • Microsoft Windows and Office 365.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve complex, multi-system problems.
  • Extensive track record of service delivery for customers.
  • Great communications skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of various IT and/or telecoms technology. architecture domains and convergence.

Job Related Knowledge Required:

  • An in depth understanding of public/private/hybrid Cloud solutions and experienced in integrating public cloud into traditional hosting/delivery models with a specific focus on AWS or Azure. -  Essential
  • Experience in conducting Cloud-related assessments observing business and technical perspectives. - Essential
  • Experience in the setup, configuration and deployment of Cloud solutions, in particular Office 365, Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory and administration of the Azure Portal. - Essential
  • Experience in Cloud services deployment in accordance with the Cloud Adoption Framework, and the various process around securing Cloud deployments. - Desirable
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud architectures and best practices across the major Cloud platform providers. - Desirable
  • Knowledge of Cloud networking technologies, configuration and troubleshooting, along with provider-specific setup requirements (ExpressRoute, DirectConnect etc.). - Desirable

Job Related Skills Required:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional certification (proven experience with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Office 365). Essential
  • Microsoft Servers certification (MCSE). - Essential
    Good understanding of technology, products and services offered by Liquid Telecom and the IT service industry. - Essential
  • Industry knowledge of data centre trends, hyperscale providers, cloud technologies (public, private and hybrid) Comfortable building customer and partner relationships. - Essential
